For my first Bristol outing on Champlain I decided to visit known anchorages so I could concentrate on getting to know the boat without any extraneous concerns. I spent one night in Partridge Harbor and a second night in Converse Bay. While I was still at the dock loading the boat with cruising essentials (chips, oreos, dintymore and Pepsi) I ran into a guy from North Carolina named Mike who had just driven up from Harrisburg with his brother Bob to explore Lake Champlain. Being far braver than I, they were about to go cruising on Champlain in a 15 foot sailboat. Just to make sure they had a place to hide if the lake got ugly, I offered to show them the entrance to Partridge Harbor. It can be really hard to find the first time you look for it, but it's one of the safest harbors on the lake.

So, when I got done loading the galley and headed out the guys were already way out in front. I tried to catch up but they were really moving along.

Trying to catch up with Mike and Bob. The entrance to Partridge Harbor is along that far shore. Until you're right up on it, the shoreline all blends together. Click picture for Video

Ran into Mike and Bob on my way south. They had visited the Maritime Museum and were headed north.
